Robert C. Gross, Sr. 92, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at Newport Hospital. Surrounded by his adoring family, his unforeseen passing was swift and peaceful.Born on October 22nd, 1926 in Nyack, NY, son of Charles and Eugenie Jean Gross, he graduated from Nyack High School, Hamilton College and Cornell School of Law.
Bob led an active life fueled by his positivity, outgoing personality and genuine love of people. He had a 30-year career with Texaco, Inc. retiring as an officer of the corporation. Bob remained active in his retirement, most recently serving as a docent at the Newport Car Museum, making new friends right up until the end.
Beloved husband of 32 years to Elizabeth Lolly Gross and loving father to Pamela Rooney and her husbandPatrick of Middletown, RI, Robert Curtis Gross Jr. and his wife Lisa of Portsmouth, RI, and Wendy Murad and her husband Menashe of Sarasota, FL as well as grandchildren Sean Rooney and his wife Lisette,Kate Rooney and her husband Stephen Sams, Kevin Gross and his wife Christine, Scott and Ryan Gross, Sam, Curt and Brooke Murad and six very great-grandchildren.
Bob also leaves behind his brother in law, William Felter and his wife Virginia of Sparta, NJ, his nephew, Thomas Felter and his wife Susan of Bedminster, NJ, his nephew, William Felter of Cary, NJ, his stepson Jody Okumura and his wife Chandelle, and granddaughter Evie of Oakland, CA, his brother in law Richard Okumura, of Sacramento, CA, his niece Alison of Somers, CT, and stepson, Tad Okumura of Oakland, CA.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his dear brother Douglas Gross.

Loyal and hard working with no job too menial, no job too daunting. He always found a way to achieve anything he set his mind to; and what a mind he had! Challenging, problem-solving, a planner. A memorial service will take place on Monday, August 5th, at 11:30am at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be private.
