Portsmouth, - Robert E. Geasey of Portsmouth, formerly of Berwyn, PA, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Village House Nursing Home in Newport. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Edmund L. Geasey and Ida (Wien) Geasey.After graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Army for just over a year. He earned a B.S. degree from Lehigh University in Electrical Engineering. He earned graduate degrees from The University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University. His 35 year career at General Electric included engineering work in the Heavy Military Division in Syracuse, NY and the Space Division at Valley Forge, PA. His greatest career accomplishment was in creating a program to determine from space the modulation transfer function of a satellite. He retired in 1991 as a Senior Systems Engineer and Mentor. He was an accomplished musician, playing both the trombone and the euphonium for 70 years in symphony orchestras, marching and concert bands, and a circus band.Mr. Geasey was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Berwyn, PA for 44 years and was most recently a member of United Congregational Church, Middletown, RI. For 20 years, he recorded math and physics textbooks for Recording for the Blind.He is survived by his wife of 59 years Caroline (Reeves) Geasey of Portsmouth, RI, two sons Richard E. Geasey of Redmond, WA, and William L. Geasey and wife Kathleen W. Geasey of Portsmouth, RI, and a daughter Nancy Geasey Turner and husband Mark G. Turner of Cincinnati, OH. The Geaseys have seven grandchildren: Jeffery, Jennifer and Christine Geasey; Luke and Graham Turner; and, Savannah and Colleen Geasey.His memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2:00 p.m. at United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown. There will be no calling hours.Burial will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA, at a later date.
