Robert Emery Wessick

Robert E. Wessick, 85, of Third Beach Road, Middletown, RI, died on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Heatherwood Nursing Home in Newport.He was the husband of the late Betty Peabody Wessick.Born in Medford, MA on August 23, 1926, he was the son of the late Carl Hugo Emery Wessick and Edith Albertina Strandberg Wessick.Mr. Wessick was a Quality Control Engineer for many years at Foxboro Company in Foxboro, MA. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in Saipan. He received his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and his Master?s Degree in Engineering Management from Northeastern University. He was a former member of Wanumetonomy Country Club and enjoyed stamp collecting. Mr. Wessick was a Mason for over 50 years with the North Star Masonic Lodge in Massachusetts. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Cohen of Florida and Polly W. Foley of North Kingstown, RI; three grandchildren, Theodore Cohen of Virginia, Betty T. Foley and Julia M. Foley, both of North Kingstown, RI. He was predeceased by his son, Theodore P. Wessick.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11:30 am in St. Columba Berkeley Chapel, 55 Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown, RI. Burial will follow in Middletown Cemetery.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 10-11 am just prior to the funeral service in Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.Donations in his memory may be made to the Norman Bird Sanctuary, 583 Third Beach Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
