Portsmouth, RI - Robert J. ?Bob? Ferris Jr., 47, of 7 Settlers Street, Portsmouth, formerly of Wapping Road, Middletown, died Saturday, October 16, 2004 while helping a victim of an automobile accident in Bridgewater, MA.He was the husband of Joann Sullivan Ferris of Portsmouth. Born in Newport, RI on March 10, 1957, he was the son of Robert and Emily Alice Andrade Ferris of Middletown, RI. Mr. Ferris had worked as a welder at Electric Boat and for Thomas Crawford Blacksmith in Newport. He currently was working for Chappy Corporation of Chelsea, MA. He was a Graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1975, and Jesus Saviour School. He was a Communicant of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport. Mr. Ferris was an active member of the Middletown Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight, and a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the Windigo Racing Team. Bob enjoyed automobile racing and watching his sons play sports. He was an avid collector and a friend to many. Besides his wife and parents he is survived by two sons Robert ?Robbie? Ferris and Kevin Ferris both of Portsmouth, RI, two sisters Cheryl Edwards and Lisa Ferris and a brother Russell Ferris all of Portsmouth, RI, ten nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins.He was also the grandson of the late Manuel and Lette Mae Borden Ferris and Gabriel and Emily DaFaria Andrade. His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport.
