Robert J. Hiebner

Middletown, - Robert J. Hiebner Sr., 94, of 600 Valley Road, Middletown, formerly of 303 Valley Road, Blenhiem, Middletown, and 208 West Indiana Street, Wheaton, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at John Clarke Nursing Center Middletown, RI.He was the husband of the late Wilhelmina Mina Schuetz Hiebner. Born in Glencoe, IL on January 22, 1909, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Berning Hiebner. Mr. Hiebner worked at Northern Illinois Gas and Electric now NICOR as a serviceman and parts manager for 39 years, retiring in 1973. He was a graduate of Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, Illinois. Mr. Hiebner earned his pilot wings in Illinois in 1930 after attending the Aviation School in St. Louis, Illinois, License # 290 and worked as a private pilot for a couple of years. He was one of Illinois earliest pilots. He is survived by his son Robert J. Hiebner Jr. of Middletown, RI, two daughters Sandra Grebe of Burnsville, MN, and Diane Rimbach of Wenatchee, WA, eleven grandchildren and twentyfour great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003, at 10:00am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
