Newport, RI - Robert Joseph Dearth, Sr., 69, of 141 Third Street, Newport, RI, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Donna E. Dupre Dearth. Born in Abington, MA on June 27, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Cass Dearth.Mr. Dearth worked for 32 years as a maintenance superintendent for Simon Company of Braintree, MA, retiring in 2006. He was an avid baseball fan. Besides his wife of 29 years, he is survived by his children Robert J. Dearth, Jr., of Brockton, MA, Ryan J. Perkins of Newport, RI, Patrick S. Dearth of New London, CT, Deborah Bradley of Scituate, MA, Karen Benevides of Assonet, MA, Tamara Kirby of Warsaw, NC, Andrea Perkins of New London, CT, Kathleen Dearth and Diane Dearth of Newport, RI, his brother Eugene Dearth of Brockton, MA, his sisters Florence Vereville of Weymouth, MA, Jeanette Dirkson, of Newton, MA and eleven grandchildren.He was the brother of the late John Dearth, Thomas Dearth, William Dearth, Margaret Johnson and Rosella Dearth. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007, at 11:00am, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.
