Robert Knowles

Robert B. Knowles, 76, of 16B Ludlow Road Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Janice Copley Knowles. They would have celebrated their 53rd Anniversary this month. Born in Tiverton, RI on September 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Rose Vera Weiner Knowles. Mr. Knowles was in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a plant engineer at St. Georges School from 1954 to 1974, he worked in the utilities department at EB Quonset from 1985 to 1990 and then he worked on the Newport Navy Base in the emergency services department until his retirement. Mr. Knowles was an avid fisherman and boater. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Patrick Knowles of Gouldsboro, ME, and David M. Knowles of Middletown, RI, his daughter Barbara Knowles Hastings of Belchertown, MA, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Lloyd R. Knowles and Barbara Rush.Funeral services will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to the charity of ones choice.
