Newport, RI - Robert L. Stanton, 64, of 46 Park Holm, Newport, RI, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. Born in South Kingstown, RI on February 15, 1948, he was the son Mark Dodge Stanton of East Providence, RI, and the late Mary Elizabeth (Hazard) Stanton.Mr. Stanton worked as a truck driver in the fishing industries. He was an avid pool player. Besides his father, he is survived by his companion of 35 years, Clara R. Thibedeau, his children, Robert Addison of Exeter, RI, Mary Anne Addison of Lincoln, RI, Elizabeth Addison of Narragansett, RI, Kevin Addison of Roxbury, MA, Bruce L. Thibedeau of Middletown, RI, Charles B. Thibedeau of Benkleman, NE, Jean M. S. Thibedeau of Vero Beach, FL and Dawn M. Thibedeau of Newport, RI, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 4-8pm with a time of remembrance at 6:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Funeral services are private.
