Portsmouth, - Robert ?Bob? Volpe, 65, of Portsmouth, formerly of Middle Road, Portsmouth, died Monday, November 25, 2002 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. He was the husband of Catherine Long Volpe of Portsmouth. Born in Providence, RI on April 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Vincent and Anna Simoli Volpe.Mr. Volpe worked as a warehouse manager at Franklin Supply for 17 years, retiring 24 years ago. He assisted with the fireworks since 1989 at Escobar Farms in Portsmouth. Bob was given the honorary title of Publicity Chairman by Louis Escobar. He was involved with the 4-H as a Cat Show Judge. Mr. Volpe was an advocate against teenage drinking and drug use in the Portsmouth Community through the Portsmouth High School. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Paul Lewis of Elko, MN, and Robert V. Volpe of Portsmouth, RI, two daughters Deborah Lemoi of Central Village, CT, and Deborah Hutnak of Portsmouth, RI, and four grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2002, at 1:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.
