Portsmouth, RI - Roger Jerome Brown, CWO-4/ W4, USN, ret. 79, of 160 Belmont Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Newport Hospital.He was the husband of the late Dorothy Jean Vieira Brown. Born in Hastings, MI. on September 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Lemual F. and Harriet Rogers Brown.He served honorably in the Navy for 30 years. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. and Mrs. Brown owned and operated Browns Bayview Guest House in Portsmouth for 17 years. He is survived by his sons Robert J. Brown of Tiverton, RI and Wayne C. Brown of Portsmouth, RI, his grandchildren Roger J. Brown III of Florida, Matthew J. Brown and Timothy L. Brown of Portsmouth, RI, Shana J. Brady of Middletown, RI, and Tessa L. Carey and Vada A. Carey of Tiverton, RI, and his great grandchildren, Christian, Joshua, Zachary, Jacob, Naomi and DominicHe was the father of the late Roger J. Brown Jr. and Susan J. Brown Carey and the grandfather of the late Paul L. Carey III. His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 8-9 in the funeral home.
