Ronald A. Sears

Ronald A. Sears, 60, of 33 Carey Street, Newport, RI, died on Friday, July 22, 2005, at Heatherwood Health Care Center, Newport. He was the husband of Rhonda Jean Blue Sears. Born in Newport, RI on August 13, 1944, he was the son of the late Manuel and Dorothy DeSimone Sears. Ronald was in the United States Air Force for 8 years, serving 3 tours in Vietnam, receiving several commendations including the Purple Heart and a Silver Star with Clusters. After returning from Vietnam, he became a Newport Police Officer and served for 22 years, retiring in 1994. After his retirement from the police force he managed the parking lot at Brick Marketplace in Newport. He was a member of Green Valley Country Club. Besides his wife of 32 years, he is survived by his daughters Kathy Baptista of Warwick, RI, and Courtney Sears of Quincy, MA, his sister Dawn Middleton of Jerome, ID, and his grandson Cole Baptista of Warwick, RI. He was the brother of the late Carlton ?Jimmy? Sears. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Augustins Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport.
