McClintock-Hanscom, Rosalie Julia (Holloway), formerly of Newport, RI and a resident of The John Clarke Nursing Center in Middletown, RI, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born in Scranton, PA on September 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mary Julia Holloway of Nicolson, PA, and sister of the late Dolores Marie "Dee" (Holloway) Hollar of San Antonio, TX.Rosalie was the wife of both the late Harris Forsyth Hanscom of Barrington, RI and the late Michael McClintock, Sr. of Newport, RI, and is survived by her three children, Michael McClintock, Jr. of Gettysburg, PA, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) McClintock of Middletown, RI, David R. (Moose) McClintock of Portsmouth, RI, along with five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.A former realtor by trade, Rosalie was a member of the National Association of Realtors and the RI Association of Realtors. She was also a long-time member of the Republican Party, which included memberships in the National Committee of Republican Women and in several state and local Republican women's clubs. Rosalie embraced a life-long passion for sailing in the waters around Newport and in Narragansett Bay. A lifetime member of the Newport Yacht Club, she was also associated with The Seaman's Church Institute in Newport, Sail Newport, and The Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, RI. She also served as a coach for The Portsmouth Abbey School's sailing team for a number of years in the 1980s. Other affiliations included The English Speaking Union and The Robert Potter League for Animals.A memorial service for Rosalie will be held on Friday, June 12 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Newport Yacht Club, 110 Long Wharf, Newport.
