Rose Beatrice Cowan, 92, of Turner Road, Middletown, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. Born in Bristol, RI on May 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Couto) Lema. Rose worked as a seamstress for Chesterfield Mill in Fall River, MA for 30 years. She was also a Communicant of St. Lucys Church.She is survived by her daughter Rose Marie Roderick of Middletown, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Joseph John, and Antone Lema, Anna Mello, Mary Diaz and Bella Moniz.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 4:00-8:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 9:30from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
