MIDDLETOWN, RI - Rose Helen Santos Carrellas, 89, of 34 Harrington Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Superior Court Judge Arthur A. Carrellas. Born in Newport, RI on May 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Soares Santos.Mrs. Carrellas was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, Class of 1935. She worked in her fathers grocery store, the former Santos Market in Newport, before becoming a full-time homemaker. Mrs. Carrellas was a Communicant of St. Barnabas Church in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed duckpin bowling in several leagues in her youth. She is survived by a son, Arthur A. Carrellas, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, a daughter, Kathleen T. Donnelly, and her husband Brian P. Donnelly of Portsmouth, 3 sisters, Alice Sanches of Newport, RI, Helen Pacheco of Oak Bluffs, MA, and Emily Ann Kinch of West Hempstead, NY, two granddaughters Laurie A. Benson, and her husband, David F. Benson of Middletown, RI, and Heather M. Boiani, and her husband Mark A. Boiani of Middletown, RI, two great granddaughters Brittany P. Boiani of Middletown, RI, and Jessica R. Benson of Middletown, RI, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph G. Santos, William Santos, and George Santos, three sisters, Mary Pinto, Dorothy Santos, and Anna Leite, and one granddaughter, Kayleigh Elizabeth Donnelly.Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 9:30 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday, July 15, 2005, from 4-8:00 PM in the Connors Funeral Home.
