Newport, - Rose Mary Silvia, 105, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Saint Clare Home, Newport, RI.Born in Middletown, RI, on January 25, 1908, at Prospect Avenue (Now 156 Prospect), the daughter of the late Manoel and Mary (Fortada) Rosa; she was the wife of the late Thomas Silvia.Rose Mary lived her early years on Prospect and Paradise Avenues in Middletown before moving to Newport where her father and uncles founded Rosa Brothers Laundry. She attended Newport schools and graduated from Rogers High School. Following her marriage, she moved with her husband back to Middletown where she, once again, lived at Paradise Avenue, this time for 52 years. After her husband's retirement they moved to Boulevard in Middletown. She had been a resident at Saint Clare Home for 11 years.Rose Mary was a lifelong parishioner of Jesus Saviour Church from the day of its establishment in 1926. She was a life member of the Jesus Saviour Rosary Sodality and a life member of the Newport Horticultural Society.She is survived by her son, Thomas P. Silvia of Wiesbaden, Germany, and son, Charles P. Silvia and his wife Elizabeth (Betty) of Middletown, RI and Virginia Beach, VA. She was the sister of the late Mary Rosa McManus Hines, Anne Rosa Silvia and Lenora Rosa Schwabe.Rose Mary is also survived by grandchildren: Ruth Silvia Lescher and husband William of Alexandra, VA, Charles P. Silvia, Jr. and wife Molly of New Orleans, LA, James C. Silvia and wife Christine of Los Angeles, CA, Thomas D. Silvia of Austin, TX, Daniel C. Silvia and wife Elizabeth of Purcellville, VA, David B. Silvia and wife Kimberly of Portsmouth, RI, and step-grandchildren: Mary Butt Hood and husband Shelby of Evergreen, CO, James F. Butt, Ryan M. Butt, and David Butt and wife Katherine of Virginia Beach, VA.She also leaves great grandchildren: Dale C. Lescher, William K. Lescher, Jr., Charles P. Silvia, III, Ellen H. Silvia, Patrick H. Silvia, Alison R. Silvia, Joseph H. Silvia, Samuel P. Silvia, Daniel C. Silvia, Jr., Callahan D. Silvia, Sophia A. Silvia, David B. Silvia, Jr., and step great grandchildren James P. Butt and Daniel P. Butt. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 9:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in Jesus Saviour Catholic Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.
