Rose Raposa Souza Fall River, MA - Rose Raposa Souza, 84, of 297 Division Street, Fall River, RI, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. She was the wife of the late Joseph Souza. Born in East Providence, RI on December 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Farias Raposa. Mrs. Souza was a graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River. After graduating she went on to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She was a former Olympic Swimmer. Rose was a member of the VFW Auxilary Cooties Post 4487 and was a Red Cross Volunteer. She is survived by her children, Frances Wilson of Portsmouth, RI, Peter Souza of South Carolina, Paul Souza of Fall River, MA and Joseph Souza Jr., of Middletown, RI, her grandchildren, Ruth Anne Zorra of Newport, RI, Frances Hozey of Norton, MA, Carlyle Rucker of Newport, RI, Ronni Rene Murphy of Winburne PA, Leesha M. Miller of Norton, MA, Nathan Souza of Newport, RI, Hank Souza of Fall River, MA, Joseph R. Souza of Little Compton, RI, Amber Rose Partida of Chicago, IL and Aaron Souza of Fall River, her great grandchildren, Amy Zorra of Warren, RI, Tiffany Hozey of Winburne, PA, Alyssa Hozey of Kingston, RI, Amanda L. Zorra of Newport, RI, Christopher J. Rucker of Newport, RI, Tristan E. Partida of Chicago, IL, and her great-great grandchildren Daymen Seitz and Daphne Molloy both of Warren, RI and her brother Joseph Raposa.She was the sister of the late Manuel Rapoza and Mary Rodrigues. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, from 2-7 pm in the funeral home.
