Rosemary Szczepaniak

Portsmouth, RI - Rosemary Camara Szczepaniak, 82, of 31 Hillside Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving family.She was the wife of the late Francis Szczepaniak, to whom she was married for 47 years. Born in Little Compton, RI, on September 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Rose Lima Camara.Mrs. Szczepaniak worked at the Melville Torpedo Station, the Portsmouth Post Office, and lastly at the St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Portsmouth. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She most loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, William J. Szczepaniak of Portsmouth, her daughter Elaine Hammond of Portsmouth, her brothers, William P. Camara, George S. Camara, Joseph R. Camara, Steve G. Camara, and Lawrence P. Camara, her sisters Evelyn Correia, Eleanor Borges, and Fanny Topazio, and two grandchildren, Travis and Austin Szczepaniak.She was preceded in death by her son Francis J. Szczepaniak, her brothers, Alfred W. Camara, Daniel R. Camara, and Thomas J. Camara, and her sisters, Theresa E. Peyton and Lucille Perry.Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009, at 10:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Columba Catholic Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 4:00-8:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home.Memorial Donations in her memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 529 Main Street, Suite 101, Charleston, MA 02129.
