Roy Eugene Short

Middletown, - Roy Eugene Short, 76, of 858 Mitchells Lane Middletown, RI, formerly of Bayminette, AL, died Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Madeline R. Holmes Short. Born in Davy, WV, on September 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Joe and Lydia Morgan Short. Mr. Short was a World War II Navy Veteran, he had spent over twenty years in the Military retiring in 1983. After his retirement he had managed a Pigly-Wigly grocery store in Bayminette, Alabama. He is survived by his granddaughter Kimberly Downes of Middletown, RI, his brother Herman Short of Titusville, FL, seven grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Short was the step father of the late Rita Martin Parker. Funeral Services and Burial will take place in Bayminette, Alabama. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
