San Diego, CA - Russell Lee Monteiro, 60, of 13095 Calle de los Ninos, San Diego, CA, formerly of Newport, RI, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at home. Born in Newport, RI, on June 25, 1945, he was the son of the late John and Jennie Pena Monteiro.Mr. Monteiro was a communicant of St. Josephs Church. He worked as a dishwasher at the Galley #227 on the Newport Naval Base and had also worked for Del Nero Cleaners as a presser for 7 years. He is survived by his children Russell L. Monteiro of Rhode Island, Mark A. Monteiro of Newport, RI, and LaTanya R. Monteiro of Providence, RI, his brother John A. Monteiro of Newport, RI, his sisters Juliann F. Anderson, Beverly A. Steadford both of Newport, RI, and Denise Keesee of San Diego, CA, his grandchildren Cierra Monteiro, Shiann Monteiro, Sakaui Monteiro and Xavier Monteiro and his cousin Joan Ramos of Newport, RI. He was the brother of the late Manuel J. Monteiro.His funeral will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006, at 9:00a.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
