Middletown, - Ruth Anne Davison Sullivan, 66, of 15 Sherwood Road Middletown, died Wednesday, April 02, 2003 at home.She was the wife of Raymond Carter Sullivan. Born in Haverhill, MA on July 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Hoyt Davison.Mrs. Sullivan moved to Newport in 1941 at the age of 5 with her family. She was a 1953 graduate of Rogers High School, where she met her husband, and a 1957 graduate of Salve Regina College where she received a degree in education. She started teaching in 1957 in the Middletown School system where she taught the Fourth grade. Most of her teaching career was spent at Aquidneck School until she retired in 1995. She had a passion for teaching and loved children which led her to continue substitute teaching well past her retirement. Her love of animals inspired her to become a volunteer at the Robert Potter League for Animals and she also taught animal care within the Middletown Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Middletown, State and National Teachers Associations. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed walking, shopping, gardening, and playing golf with her husband. She was an avid reader as well. She loved traveling, which led her and her husband to such places as Ireland, Spain, Portugal, England, Hawaii and various other destinations in the United States. She was very actively involved with her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them Boogie boarding at Second Beach where she spent all of her summers. She also enjoyed watching them play various sports such as basketball, football, baseball, and especially hockey. She never missed a game. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Besides her husband of 44 years she is survived by three sons Kevin Sullivan of San Diego, CA, Raymond Sullivan of Newport, RI, and Sean Sullivan of Middletown, RI, two daughters Colleen Weaver and Carrie Hambleton both of Middletown, RI, her brother Edward Davison of Huntington Beach, CA, her sister Cora Reed of Washington, DC, six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many friends.She was the sister of the late John Davison. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2003, at 11:00AM, in Calvary United Methodist Church, located at Turner And Wyatt Roads, Middletown. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.
