Portsmouth, RI - Ruth E. Matheus Murawski, 90, of 50 Clearview Avenue, Portsmouth, died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Murawski. Born in Kingston, NY on August 16, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Kerr Matheus. Mrs. Murawski was the oldest of three children in her family, her father died when the family was young, Ruth helped her mother with the family. She married Joe Murawski in 1951 and lived in Portsmouth, RI. With no children of their own, she became ?super aunt? and helped her brother and sister with their own families. Ruth loved bingo and would play up to three times a week, at the Elks lodge, Knights of Columbus, on the Newport Navy Base and would even drive her friends to the casinos. For many years she was active in boating and fishing and had successfully completed a course to obtain her Captains License. She is survived by four nephews Henry Matheus of Poughkeepsie, NY, Alan ?Skipper? Pine of Beekman, NY, Bruce Pine of Bridgeport, CT, and Barry Pine of Peekskill, NY, and her niece Chiyo Anderson of Peekskill, NY, and sister in law Jean Matheus of Peekskill, NY.She was the sister of the late Katherine ?Kay? Pine and Henry Matheus.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004, at 10:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
