Ruth Elizabeth Manchester

Portsmouth, - Ruth Elizabeth Manchester, 85, of 78 Pine Tree Road Portsmouth, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on December 3, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John Rogers Manchester and Lulu Albro Manchester. Ruth worked at the Torpedo Station during World War II, later at Gold Insurance Co. on Spring St. and retired from the State of Rhode Island at the Department of Human Services in Newport as a clerk. She was a lifelong member of St. Marys Episcopal Church and was also a member of the Women?s Guild. She was also a long time member of the Mosaic Club. She is survived by her brother Gilbert Manchester of Portsmouth, RI, her nephew Paul Manchester of Stoughton, MA, her niece Marguarite Weiner of Acton, MA, and her niece Ann Comier of Toronto, Canada. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003, at 11am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
