Ruth Ellen Henshaw

Portsmouth, RI - Ruth Ellen Sowden Henshaw, 89, formerly of 7 Donna Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Village House, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late James S. Henshaw. Born in Fall River, MA on September 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Harriet Patterson Sowden. Mrs. Henshaw worked at Monowatt and the commissary on the Newport Naval Base. As a member of the Good Sams Club, along with her husband James, Ruth enjoyed traveling throughout New England, mid United States, and Florida. She also enjoyed motorcycle trips and rendezvous with the Viking Riding Club. She is survived by her sisters Elsie Kirkham of Plymouth, NH, Barbara Mathias of Akron, Indiana, a brother Robert Sowden of Tiverton, RI, five nephews, and five nieces.A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009, at 1:00 pm at Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
