Ruth Frances Tucker

Middletown, RI - Ruth Frances Johnson Tucker, 71, of 123 Seascape Avenue, Middletown, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at home.She was the wife of James Edward Tucker. Born in Elizabeth, NJ on November 17, 1932, she was the daughter of late Carl and Frances Kerzenberger Johnson. Mrs. Tucker was an Avon Lady for 30 years. She assisted her daughter Marion with the delivery of the Newport Daily News and Providence Journal Newspapers for 14 years. And for years she babysat for many families on Aquidneck Island. Besides her husband she leaves six sons Charles E. Welch of Bristol, RI, Lawrence J. Welch, Richard W. Welch, Kevin P. Welch, Eugene C. Welch and Douglas J. Tucker all of Middletown, RI, her daughter Marion F. Welch of Middletown, RI, her sister Marion Hess of Fayetteville, NC, thirty grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late Steven R. Welch and Christopher G. Tucker and the sister of the late Edward C. Johnson. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 8:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 09:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in her memory may be made to the ALS Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 1637 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889.
