Ruth G. Fortier

Ruth G. Fortier, 88, of Charlestown died Friday, May 8, 2015 at South County Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Charles P. Fortier.Born on August 11, 1926 in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Hulda (Johnson) Wohlen. Ruth was born the youngest of six and had five older brothers. She worked for 28 years as an accountant for Newport Hospital.Besides her husband of 68 years she is survived by her children, Charles J. Fortier and Jane Daniels and her husband Brian, her former daughter-in-law Kimberly Fortier; her grandchildren, Charles A. Fortier and his wife Grace, Farin Daniels, and Chrystal Emery and her husband Patraic; her great grandson Braeden Emery, her siblings James Wohlen and his wife Ann and Clifton Wohlen and his wife Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.She was the grandmother of the late Dillon Daniels and the sister of the late Eric Wohlen, Alvin Wohlen and Henry Wohlen.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 10:00am-12:00pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, followed by her service at 12:00pm.Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
