Ruth H. Gafgen

Newport, RI - Ruth H. Pierce Gafgen, 80, of 38 Friends Drive Newport, died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Daniel K. Gafgen. Born in Trenton, NJ on September 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Anne Tonne Pierce. Mrs. Gafgen was the director at the American Red Cross Newport Chapter from 1970 to 2000, she also worked at the Newport Preservaton Society working most recently at the Reception/Information desk at the Pell Building. She is survived by two sons Pierce Gafgen of Middletown, RI, and Daniel J. Gafgen of Hilton Head, SC, her brother Robert Pierce of Trenton, NJ, and three grandchildren Christie-Ann Gafgen of Middletown, RI, Brandon Gafgen and Betsy Gafgen both of Hilton Head, SC.She was the sister of the late Joseph Pierce. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at 2:00 PM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
