Newport, RI - Ruth M. Brooks Cook, 89, of Spring Street, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the John Clarke Health Care Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late Raymond G. Cook, Sr. Born in Newport, RI on September 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Mary A. Maddox Brooks.Mrs. Cook was a member of the Edward King House Senior Center, was an avid bingo player, and choir mother at Emmanuel Church in Newport for 25 years. She is survived by her children, Raymond G. Cook, Jr. and his wife Judy of Middletown, RI, John T. Cook and his wife Maggie of Middletown, RI and Beverly A. Sanches and her husband Robert of Newport, RI; her grandchildren, Sonya Silvia and her husband Matt, Dan Cook and his wife Angie, Jennifer Griffin, Joshua Cook and his companion Nicola Campbell and Adam Cook; her great grandchildren, Mya Silvia, Amber Cook, Kyle Cook, Jonathan Griffin, Benjamin Griffin and Javiere Inniss; and Alexandra McConnell, Jacob Fagan and Tyler Fagan, three very special people in her life. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Thomas Brooks, Henry Brooks, Frank Brooks, Edward Brooks, Mary Plymesser Connolly, Gladys Thomas, Ida Bannon, Grace Silva, Marion Dionne, Charlotte Brooks, Alice Brooks and Katherine Brooks. Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 9 am from the Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI, with a burial service at 10 am in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport.Burial will follow in Island Annex Cemetery, Newport.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
