Ruth Maynard Spooner

Ruth Maynard (Ragsdale) Spooner, 98, of Portsmouth died Monday, September 21, 2015 at Newport Hospital.She was the wife of the late Milton K. Spooner.Born on February 20, 1917 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Emma (Sharples) Ragsdale. Mrs. Spooner was a graduate of Rogers High School. She was the secretary for the Commanding Officer of Public Works for Naval Station Newport. Mrs. Spooner was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, was a girl scout leader, she knitted newborn baby hats for the Newport Hospital Auxiliary, loved making flower arrangements and was a member of the Norman Bird Sanctuary. In addition to her parents Ruth is predeceased by her husband Milton Spooner and her brothers William E. Ragsdale Jr and Leslie Ragsdale.She is survived by her children, Peter M.
