Ruth Virginia Kane

Portsmouth, RI - Ruth Virginia Kane, 86, of Belmont Drive, passed away at Newport Hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. She was the wife of the late John Francis Kane. Born in Arlington, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Fred Caplin and Gladys Howard Caplin.She was a resident of Portsmouth for 60 years, graduated from Taunton Massachusetts High School in 1973 and was a telephone operator during and after WWII in Newport. She is survived by her son William H. Kane and daughter-in-law Pamela Kane of Portsmouth and her daughter Sandra and son-in-law William B. Rouse of Atlanta, GA. She has four grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Kane of Portsmouth and Rebecca and Will Rouse of Atlanta, GA. She was the sister of Robert Caplin and his wife Mary of Portsmouth. She was also the sister of the late Betty Hillman, Richard Caplin, Fred Caplin and David Caplin.
