Barrington, RI ? Ruth Constance White Beech, 86, formerly of Barrington, died peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Walter Harry Beech. They had been married for 55 years. Ruth was born July 5, 1920, in Providence, daughter of the late Harry Augustus White and Minnie Constance Loux. She was christened in Tremont Temple in Boston in 1930 and graduated from Girls Latin in Boston in 1937. After receiving her Masters degree in Education from Boston State College, she attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned a Masters degree in Public Health in 1945. She worked for 10 years as a school teacher at the Child Street Elementary School in Warren before earning a Masters degree in Library Science. She then served as the school librarian at Warren High School, before retiring in 1985. Ruth was a dedicated local educator and was beloved by her students, who always remembered her fondly during chance meetings in the community. She was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling. She loved the ocean and her cats. She resided for many years in Barrington until moving to Portsmouth after retirement to live at Common Fence Point in the home of her parents. She was a communicant of St. John?s Church in Barrington and later of Holy Trinity Church in Tiverton. She was a Sunday lector at Holy Trinity Church. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Portsmouth. She is survived by two children, David P. Beech of Waltham, MA and Judith B. Ott of Barrington, RI and two grandchildren, Jesse A. Ott and Joshua M. Ott both of Barrington. A funeral and memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2006, at 10:00am, in Holy Trinity Church, 1956 Main Road, Tiverton.
