Sadie Elizabeth Brown

Middletown, RI - Sadie E Brown, 77, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully, on Friday February 17, 2012 at the Newport Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Clifford E Brown. Born in Gladstone, VA on Sep. 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rosalie Johnson Robinson, and sister of the late Sydney Robinson, Melinda Evelyn Jacks, and Mary Paul Tinsley. She grew up in Huntington, West Virginia and was a graduate of Douglas High School.Mrs. Brown was very active in the Community Baptist Church in Newport, serving on the hospitality committee for many years. She served as a W.A.V.E in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Navy Justice School, Newport. Mrs. Brown retired from NUWC after thirty years of government service. She loved to travel with her husband, driving across the United States two times, and visited every state, including Hawaii. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, of 57 years, Clifford E Brown of Middletown, RI , her daughter Gina Brown of Middletown, RI, her son Clifford E Brown III, and his wife Robin, of Middletown, and her daughter Sherri Brown-Chapman, and her husband James, of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Myles, Michael, and Maya Chapman of Jacksonville, FL. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2012 from 9-11 am in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Wheatland Blvd , Newport, RIHer funeral will be held on, Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Community Baptist Church 50 Dr. Wheatland Blvd Newport, RI. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in her name to Visiting Nurses/Hospice services of Newport and Bristol Counties 1185 E.
