Salvatore Joseph Buonvino, of Portsmouth died October 2, 2010 at his home.He was the husband of Karen M. Coggeshall Buonvino.Born in Roselle Park, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Anne Santoro Buonvino.Joseph served proudly in the US Navy as a photographer before settling in the Newport area. He owned and operated several restaurants in the local area including the Surf Hotel, followed by a career in hotel management. Joseph was a member of the Middletown Special Police, Fraternal Order of Police, Middletown Rotary Club and the Elks. He took pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid follower of the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed the waterfront.Besides his wife he leaves four children Michael Buonvino and his wife Susan of Ormond, FL, Lori Foster and her husband Rex of Peoria, AZ, Paul Buonvino and Tina Recupero and her husband Josh all of Tiverton.He also leaves three grandchildren, Emilee Dellinger, Megan Foster and Lindsey Foster.Joseph was the brother of the late Maria Rose Scaturro, Michaelina Vecchio, Carmela Marino, Frank Buonvino and Charles Buonvino.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 4 -7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
