Middletown, RI - Samuel C. Franks, III, 60, of West Side House, Worcester, MA, and formerly of Center Avenue, Middletown, died Friday, June 15, 2012 in Worcester, MA. Born on December 7, 1951, he was the son of the late Mr. Mrs. Samuel C. Franks, Jr.Mr. Franks was a graduate of the Aquidneck School and Middletown High School. After high school he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Sammy was a man of the 60's, lover of Jethro Tull, Eric Burton and Omar's. A gentle soul who never forgot a name - a super memory for recognizing and knowing everyone at the class reunions, an easy laugh, a quick smile... a nice man. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas Franks and Michael Franks, his life-long best friend, Jon Dillworth of Middletown, RI and his friend and guardian of 29 years, Ronald C. Kurtz of Middletown, RI. He was predeceased by his great friends, Ted Luderer, John "GG" Howard, and "Big" Darby, all of Middletown. We would like to give special thanks to the West Side House in Worcester, MA where Sammy resided since 1992, and to Jose M. Rivera and family who took the very best care of Sammy for many years.
