Shantel Nicole Bailey

Middletown, RI - Shantel Nicole Bailey, 16, of 12 Greene Lane Middletown, RI, formerly of Chapel Terrace and Bliss Road, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, November 19, 2003. Born in Newport, RI on August 12, 1987, she was the daughter of Christopher and Lisa Bailey Stedford.Shantel lived in Newport, before moving to Middletown 6 years ago. She was a junior at Middletown High School, where she played basketball for the school team. Shantel also played basketball for the Flo Harvey League at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Newport County. She worked part time at the Newport Boys and Girls Club, where she counseled younger children. She also worked at Subway, the Newport Yachting Center and Mudville Pub. Shantel loved spending time with her friends, she loved music and she loved to dance. Her biggest dream was of playing in the WNBA one day. Everyone will remember her beautiful smile. Besides her parents she is survived by her maternal grandparents Mary E. and Raymond W. Bailey Sr. of Newport, RI, her paternal grandparents Beverly and Oscar Stedford of Newport, RI, her brother Jason Bailey of Newport, RI, two sisters Chrisonya Bailey and Adrianna Bailey both of Middletown, RI, her nephew, thirty five cousins, seven aunts, six uncles and many great aunts and uncles. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at 11:00AM, in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery in Newport.
