Sharon Denise James Coriander age 55 of Newport, Rhode Island went to be with our Lord on Friday, May 7, 2010. Sharon was born on December 8, 1954, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Newport RI for 25 years; she was also an active member of the NAACP and VFW Auxiliary Post 1268. Sharon was a graduate of the Class of 1973 from Rogers High School. She then received a degree from secretarial school. Sharon lived in New York City for 12 years. While in New York she worked for Republic National Banks legal department before returning to Newport. She was employed as a legal sectary by Edwards and Angell of Providence before contracting polymyositis. Sharon is preceded in death by father, Rev. William Armstrong, uncles Leroy and William James, aunt Jewell James, cousins Barbara and Leroy James Jr. and former husband Keith Coriander. She is survived by; mother, Ruth Armstrong, of Newport RI brother Ronald Vicki James of Providence RI, nephew, Derek Lisa Mabray and great niece Morgan Mabray of Cranston RI, cousins, Robert Lee Annetta, Alvin and David James of Knoxville, Tennessee, friends Phillip and Joanne Coriander of Newport RI, and a host of family and friends. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 12:00PM, in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 11:00AM-12:00PM in the church.Donations in her memory may be made to the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport, RI 02840.
