Sheila Nunes

Sheila Murphy Nunes, 72, of Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, RI, died at her home on Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2010.Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Louis E. and Margaret W. Wagner Murphy.Mrs. Nunes was a 1959 graduate of Salve Regina University and received her Masters Degree from RI College. She taught school for 34 years at Melville Elementary School in Portsmouth. She also volunteered at Visiting Nurse Services in Portsmouth for 12 years and would drive various people to their appointments when needed.She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph M. Nunes; two sons, Robert Nunes of Wake Forest, NC and Terence Nunes of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Deborah Nunes of Bloomingdale, GA and Leslie Nunes of Portsmouth, RI; six grandchildren, Oh Hwan, Jessyca, Luke, Michelle, Michael and Nicole; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Lillyanne; and a brother, Louis E. Murphy of Florissant, MO. She was the sister of the late Frederick and Terence M. Murphy. Sheila wished that everyone she left behind would have a happy and fun filled life as she did.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 9 am from Connors Funeral Home. 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will follow in Portsmouth Cemetery, Turnpike Road, Portsmouth, RI.Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
