Shelley Duncan Netter

Shelley D. Netter Newport, RI - Shelley D. Netter, 87, of 1 Pearl Street, Newport, RI, formerly of 44 Ducksberry Road, Newton, MA, died Friday, October 30, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Mary Louise Royster Netter. Born in Jamestown, RI on February 11, 1922, he was the son of the late William L. and Ella Duncan Netter.Mr. Netter served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1952 becoming a Corporal, in 1953 he joined the Massachusetts National Guard, becoming a Sergeant until his discharge. After the service Mr. Netter went to work at the Boston Shipyard as a laborer. After his retirement he worked as a janitor in the Newton School Department. Shelley was also an avid fisherman. Shelley will be sorely missed by his caregiver of many years Margaret Cabral. He is survived by his sister Ella Virginia Jackson and her husband Alfred of Newport, RI, and several nieces and nephews including Laraine Page and her husband Clarence of Newport, RI..He was the brother of the late William Netter. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 10:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held the morning of his service from 9-10 in the funeral home.
