Sherman Simeon Barnhart

Sherman Simeon Barnhart Portsmouth, RI - Sherman Simeon Barnhart, 85, of 57 Seneca Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, January 12, 2007, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Mary E. Sailors Barnhart. Born in Grafton, NY, on December 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Sherman S. and Lena Weber Barnhart.Mr. Barnhart had worked as an electrical engineer at General Electric, Ansco, Raytheon, and Syscon, for over 46 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. Mr. Barnhart was a senior lifetime member of IEEE. He was a Graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also enjoyed geneology and was an accomplished craftsman. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons Stephen W. Barnhart of Concord, NC, Paul D. Barnhart of Syracuse, NY, and Brian L. Barnhart of Portsmouth, RI, and two grandchildren Erin Marie Barnhart and Bradley S. Barnhart.A memorial service was held on Monday, January 15, 2007, in the First Presbyterian Church, Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.
