Sherrill Ann Daily of Portsmouth, RI died peacefully on Wednesday February 22nd surrounded by her loving family at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin on November 6th 1937 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Etta Peterson and sister of Wallace Peterson. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelors Degree in chemistry, she worked for Shell Oil Company in California. She was then accepted into medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, where she met her future husband Arthur Daily. After their first year of medical school they were married and remained so for over 50 years. Sherrill is survived by her husband, her five children - Matthew, Andrea, Christopher, Alison, and Paul, and her nine grandchildren - Emma, Grace, Shelby, Laura, Caroline, Parker, Ryan, Caitlin, and Dylan. Sherrill was a gifted musician who sang in numerous choirs and played both the piano and the saxophone. She was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and an avid supporter of the Portsmouth Public Schools.Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 25th, 2012 starting at 12 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. There will be a calling hour from 12-1p.m. followed by a memorial service. A private burial will take place afterwards at St. Marys Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Portsmouth High School Band through the Portsmouth Music Boosters, Portsmouth High School, ATTN Diana White, Education Lane, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
