PORTSMOUTH, RI - Sherryanne Smith, 51, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Women Infants Hospital in Providence, RI, after a long illness. Mrs. Smith lived at 97 Botelho Drive in Portsmouth, RI. She was the wife of Gordon Johnson. Born in Newport, RI on June 12, 1954, she was the daughter of Irene Fayerweather Smith Little and the late Earl Smith. Mrs. Smith was the loving mother of two sons, Eugene Scott Smith and Geoffrey Allen Smith, both of Portsmouth, RI.She was active both in business and in the local community. She held a position as Business Manager at Anteon Corporation in Middletown, RI for five years, after its acquisition of Integrated Performance Decisions. At IPD, she was Senior Financial Analyst and Facilities Security Officer for fifteen years.She was formerly the Secretary for the Rec Reunion Committee and was a cornerstone in the planning and execution of its many fundraising activities. She was also a volunteer at the Park Holm Boys and Girls Club and at the Newport Housing Hotline.Mrs. Smith is survived by five grandsons: Scott Eugene Smith, Jalen Marquis Ardrey, Shaquille Malik Ardrey, Javen Eugene Smith and Jacoby Moore, all of Aquidneck Island. Her granddaughters Andrea George of Lanham, MD, Mya Scott Smith of Newport, RI and Jasmine Moore of Middletown, RI.She is also survived by brothers Earl Smith, Jr., of East Providence, RI, Alan Smith and Rodney Smith both of Providence, RI, and Jaimy Stone of Florida. Her sisters are Deborah Maxwell of Jacksonville, FL, Ethel M. Long of Columbus, GA, Loretta Cooper of Richmond, VA, Patricia Smith of Providence, RI, and Jacqueline Little of Coventry, RI.She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Walter Little, JR. and her brother James V. Smith. Mrs. Smith is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and other family. Sherryanne Smith was a dear and generous woman of exceptional courage and integrity who will be vastly missed by all who had the great fortune to know her.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at 1:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on September 6, 2005, from 7-9pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
