Shirley Ellen Moses, age 77, of Newport died Friday, July 17, 2015 at South County Nursing Rehab of North Kingstown, RI. Mrs. Moses was born February 3, 1938 in Elmira, NY. She is the daughter of the late James Arthur and the late Elizabeth (Jacque) Markell. She married Louis Moses in 1956. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, her cat Goldie, telling jokes and stories, playing cards, board games, and bingo. She was great at doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed craft projects and listening to classical music and Conway Twitty. She liked to eat cookies for breakfast to start the day off right and dessert before dinner to stay sweet. She also liked baseball and old time TV shows.In addition to her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her husband Louis Moses; her 5 brothers: Oliver Markell, Dudley Markle, James Markell Jr., John Markell, and Leroy Markell; and her infant son James Joseph Moses.She is survived by her children Louis Moses and his wife Deanna DeLoatch-Moses of Chesapeake, VA; Stephen Moses of Bristol, RI; Ellen Locker and her husband Richard of Portsmouth, RI; and Susan Magden and her husband Rick of New Britain, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren John House, Alyssa Bergeron and her husband Raymond, and Kylie Gola all of New Britain, CT; Ian Locker and Ryan Locker of Portsmouth, RI; Ray Magden of Nebraska; Michelle Bergeron of Idaho; and two great grandchildren Dominick Bergeron of Idaho and Layla Bergeron of New Britain, CT; her sister Betty Ross of Elmira, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews.
