NEWPORT, RI - Shirley J. Roberts Ayotte, 75, of 51 Holland Street, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Leopold N. Ayotte. Born in Cecil Washington City, PA on December 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alberta Orr Roberts. Mrs. Ayotte moved to Newport from Washington DC in 1968. She was a ground keeper for 13 years at Spring Cottages, and she also worked briefly at various restaurants in Newport, the Viking Hotel, the Treadway, Quality Lunch and the Handi Lunch. She was a member of Emmanuel Church. Mrs. Ayotte was a past president and member of the VFW Auxillary Post 406 of Newport and a member of the Military Order Kodies Pup #10. Besides her husband of thirty years, she is survived by her step son Michael C. Ayotte of Newport, RI. She was the sister of the late Mary Ann Anderko. Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 23, 2006, at 10:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Calling hours will be held on January 22, 2006, from 2-4PM and 7-9PM in the Memorial Funeral Home.
