Middletown, RI - Shirley Parvo Plumley, 75, of 417 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI on December 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Alfred V. and R. Alice Kation Parvo. Shirley graduated from St. Catherins Academy in 1952. She married in 1954 living in upstate New York, Connecticut and Middletown, RI. She enjoyed landscaping, bowling, was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking her special dishes for family and friends. In recent years she looked forward to St. Patricks Parade Day when she would keep the kitchen running smoothly at the home of her daughter, during a Parade Day open house, serving up food and drink to parade participants, spectators, family and friends. Many of her childrens family and friends affectionately called her Sammie. She is survived by her children, Bruce Plumley and his wife Kathryn of Middletown, CT, and Jeanne Kane and her husband Stephen of Newport, RI; her daughter-in-law Robbi Plumley of Meriden, CT; and her grandchildren, Stephenie Kane of Newport, RI, Jason Plumley, Adam Plumley, Matt Plumley and Molly Plumley all of Connecticut.She was preceded in death by her son Lon Craig Plumley. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
