Shirley Pierce

Portsmouth, RI - Shirley Pierce, 78, formerly of Thurston Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, October 5, 2007 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Charles F. Pierce. Born in Fall River, Mass, on October 30, 19287, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Shoard Leach.Shirley was a 1946 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, MA. She then graduated from Union Hospital School of Nursing and began her career. She retired after 35 years as a Nurse at Newport Hospital. Mrs. Pierce is survived by her sons Michael Pierce of Tenino, WA, and Peter Pierce of Portsmouth, RI, and her daughters Marcia Stone and Priscilla Jolie both of Portsmouth, RI. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Heather Fink, Nicole Mohlmann, Jack and Patrick Higgins, Tracy Williams, Ashton and Kevin Stone, and Edward and Alia Jolie; as well as three great grandchildren Arden Fink, Xander Williams, Nolan Higgins and Nicholas Mohlmann. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher Pierce. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007, at 11:00 am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2007, from 2-4 in the funeral home.
