Shirlie A. "Bill" (Coggeshall) Bally, 90, formerly of Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI, died on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Grand Islander Healthcare Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late Paul J. Bally.Born in Newport, RI on July 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Fillmore and Mary (McGann) Coggeshall.Mrs. Bally was a 1940 graduate of Rogers High School. She was a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone, later ATT, for over 40 years. She was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mrs. Bally loved gardening and going to the beach, and was a member of the Third Beach Club and Peabody Beach.She is survived by her children, Peter Bally of Denver, CO, Dion Bally and his wife Jane of Middletown, RI, and Pamela Bruno and her husband Stephen of Middletown, RI; and grandchildren, Paul and Elizabeth Bally, and Heather and Kevin Bruno. She was the sister of the late Christine Flood.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10 am in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
