Portsmouth, - Stanley John Jakubiak, 69, of 5 East Terrace Portsmouth, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. He was the husband of Betty Ann Causey Jakubiak. Born in Providence, RI on November 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Stanley Z. Jakubiak and Sophie Rose Wnek Jakubiak. Mr. Jakubiak was a Dean of Administrative Services with Roger Williams University. He was a graduate of La Salle Academy in Providence, RI he went on to receive his B S Degree in Business Administration from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI. Mr Jakubiak then earned his MS in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island and had completed three Years of Study towards his Doctorate from the University of Connecticut. He taught economics at Johnson and Wales College as well as Roger Williams University. Mr. Jakubiak was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church and had volunterred to help on the church Feast for many years. He was a former member of the Cup Defenders of Bristol. An avid Golfer he enjoyed golfing in both Portsmouth at the Montaup Country Club where he was a member and in Port Charlotte Florida where he and his wife had wintered for the last five years. Mr.Jakubiak was a sports fan of the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Mr. Jakubiak enjoyed sitting down to read a good book especially if it was about history. Besides his wife of 44 years he is survived by his son Raymond S. Jakubiak of Portsmouth, RI, two daughters Judith Ann Borden of Little Compton, RI, and Joan Elizabeth Mathias of Tiverton, RI, his sister Joan R. Gadigian of Greenville, RI, three aunts Nellie Noble of North Providence, RI, Stephanie Anzelone of Greenville, RI, and Frances Rudowski of Warwick, RI, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
