Newport, RI - Stanley P. Brown, 89, of 9 Atlantic Street, Newport, RI, died peacefully, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Jeanne M. Friend Brown of Newport. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in October. Born in Fall River, MA on October 16, 1917, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anna White Brown.Mr. Brown served in the United States Army in the Philippines, during World War II. He was a graduate of Rogers High School. Mr. Brown was a gifted craftsman and talented cabinet maker. He was a structural inspector for the US Naval Public Works Department for 26 years, retiring in 1978. Mr. Brown was a former member of the Mason Lodge of Perfection, a member of the Newport Racing Pigeon Club, the Newport County Salt Water Fishing Club, the Bay State Beagle Club, the Little Rhody Beagle Club and the Newport County Conservation Commission. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman and hunter. He was often seen fishing from several spots on Ocean Drive or training his champion beagles. Besides his wife he is survived by, his children Jane A. Roach and her husband Albert T. Roach Jr. and Mary B. Sinnott and her husband James Sinnott of Middletown, RI, Stanley P. Brown Jr. and his wife A. Elaine Brown of Portsmouth, RI, Frederick W. Brown and his wife Linda Brown of Jamestown, RI, Christine E. Pimentel and her husband Chris Pimentel of Portsmouth, RI and Robert A. Brown and his wife Tricia Brown of Newport, RI, his sister Roberta Brown Taylor of Newtown Square, PA, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Beulah Brown McBee, Frederick Brown, Albert Brown, and Ruth B. Peterson. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2006, at 10:00 am in Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, Newport. Burial will be private.
