Stephen Demello

Stephen Demello, 69, of Hoover Road, Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Newport Hospital.He was the husband of Pamela C. Maxson Demello.Born in Fall River, MA on May 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Olivia Olive Correia Demello. Mr. Demello was a caregiver to Albert A. Taber for many years and had worked as an antiques dealer, an architect and an automotive mechanic. He was an avid water skier in his youth growing up in Island Park. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed music of all types. He also found great strength in learning aspects of various religions and was solid in his belief to keep your heart true and your convictions strong.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven S. Burton of Fall River, MA, Tammie Lawson Demello of Alabama and Joey Demello of Florida; nine grandchildren, Mason Costa, Alec Burton, Kaileh Burton, Hannah Lawson, Olivia Lawson, Scout Lawson, Stella Lawson, Chase Demello and Karma Demello; two brothers, Gus Andrade of Middletown, RI and Robert Demello of Connecticut; and a sister, Catherine Cook of Florida. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Henry and Marie Mello.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 12 noon in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 11 am - 12 noon just prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842, VNS of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, or to a charity of your choice.
