Stephen M. Mitchell

Stephen M. Mitchell, 53, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown with his family at his side.Born on January 24, 1962 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Dorothy Jean (Chaves) Gould of Middletown, RI and the late Thomas Joseph Mitchell.Stephen was a former reservist in the United States Army serving during the late 1970's and early 1980's. He worked as a welder for General Dynamics, Electric Boat, in North Kingstown, RI, Gladding and Hearn Shipbuilding in Somerset, MA and was the owner and operator of Interior Artistry Painting. Stephen was also a Special Officer with the Little Compton Police Department. He enjoyed fishing, reading, the New England Patriots, the beach and spending time with his grandchildren.In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Kraig Mitchell of Shoshone, CA and Chad Mitchell of Little Compton, RI; his grandchildren, Kayden Mitchell of Seattle, WA, and Alexander and Cael Mitchell of Little Compton, RI; and his sister, Kathleen Mitchell of Woburn, MA. He was the stepson of the late Raymond Gould.
