Stephen Matthew Biastre - Born in Newport, RI on October 6, 1971, he died suddenly in Newport on September 26, 2009 at 37 years old. His parents are deeply saddened by his death. Stephen attended elementary schools in Newport, and he attended Narragansett High School. His favorite hobbies were listening to music, going to concerts, camping, had a great knack for assembling electronics and art. Stephen was a strategic thinker, and used his mind to win at pool, video, card and board games. He enjoyed the competition. He spent many hours volunteering for the OSCAR program, helping keep his community clean. Stephen was also an altar boy for his local church. He also received a white belt in Judo. His mother was proud to learn that Stephen was an organ donor, saving 10 lives with tissue donations. His mother was surprised to receive a note from a donation recipient that they are now able to walk and progressing to physical therapy and a recovery. The last thing Stephen enjoyed doing in Newport with his children was going to the Library park, walking on the beach, collecting shells and going swimming, before his children returned to Maine to start school.Besides his mother and father he is survived by his children, Dakota Carvara of Portsmouth, RI, his twins Jeremy and Summer Biastre of Limestone, ME and his step daughter Nicole Drapeau of Tiverton, RI, a maternal grandmother, and an aunt and uncle in South Carolina, his great aunt in Massachusetts and a lot of friends in Newport and Narragansett. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family.He was the grandson of the late Nicholas Andrewkopoulos and also the late Albert Biastre, Sr. His great grandparents immigrated from Greece. He is preceded in death by his great uncle Robert Biastre, the former butler for the Von Bulow family and his great grandmother Virginia Biastre.A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 2:30pm at the Salvation Army, 51 Memorial Blvd, Newport. Lt. Johnson and his wife lead the memorial service. Celebration will be held for Stephen Biastre on the anniversary of his death. His mother will be sending up 40 balloons in memory of his passing. A Bouquet of Balloons Celebration for Life will be held on August 5, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the lighthouse at Castle Hill on Ocean Drive.
